Definition, Diagnosis and Classification of Diabetes Mellitus and its Complications
New guidelines for classifying and diagnosing diabetes which took effect on 1/6/2000. Published by the World Health Organization, they have been adopted by the major professional bodies, in consultation with the British Diabetic Association. The new criteria reflect research evidence for lowering the threshold for diagnosing diabetes. It is hoped that this will facilitate early diagnosisand intervention and help prevent the onset of complications.
